Mine hits the top of my knee, a little longer than in the picture. But, I let it settle a little below my waist.

Beware, these are on the small side. I love mine.

Does the back of the skort have the look of a skirt or are is it the back of the short legs?

BEST ANSWER: It looks like a skirt. The shorts aren't visible at all but they cover nicely. I've hiked and kayaked in them, worn them out shopping, and everything in between. I've never felt exposed or like I show too much leg.

From the back it looks just like a skirt,. The 'shorts' are inside and are shorter than the exterior skirt. The only time the 'shorts' would show is if the slit on the side opens sufficiently.

The back of the skirt looks like a skirt. It's a full skirt knit shorts are sewn in. Love this skort. Runs a bit large so you should go down a size.

I am a medium as well and found myself needing a 10 in both the Compleat and the Transport Skorts. The waistline seems to run a little narrow - hope this helps!
